Per Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations says that a refund processed from a credit card should have an original offsetting sale before it gets issued. With QuickBooks Payments, you can process refunds within six months from the date of sale. You can provide refund by using cash or check after this period.

Credits sent to customer’s card processed after the batch ends will incur similar processing fees as the original transaction but if you void or cancel those transactions then they won’t incur the same processing fees as the original transaction.

The most convenient way to locate a transaction is by sorting it by date, amount and last 4 digits of the customer’s credit card number.
