How To Resolve The Issue?

Solution 1: Turn On Hosting

  • From the main menu, go to File > Utilities > Host multi-user access
  • Click on Yes on the Host multi-user access

Solution 2: Configure Services

  • Open the Run command by pressing Windows + R
  • In the search field, type msc and then hit enter or press OK.
  • Locate the QuickBooksDBXX service as per your version:
    • QuickBooks 2019: QuickBooksDB29
    • QuickBooks 2018: QuickBooksDB28
    • QuickBooks 2017: QuickBooksDB27
  • Double-tap on the QuickBooksDBXX
  • Set the Startup Type to Automatic and Service Status to Running or Started.
  • Navigate to the Recovery
  • Select Restart the Service from the First failure drop-down list. This will restart the QuickBooks DB service if it fails. Perform the same steps for second failure and subsequent failures.
  • Click on OK to save changes and then restart your system.

Solution 3: Change The Install Location

  • Reinstall using the following default installation path:
    • C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks(year) (32-bit)
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Intuit\QuickBooks (year) (64-bit)

Important: Do not install in a mapped drive.

Solution 4: Recreate QBDataServiceUserXX

Important: If you get an error that says your Windows user account doesn’t have sufficient rights or permissions then you have to log in the Windows with administrator rights.

  • Close QuickBooks and all its related processes using the Task Manager
  • Open the Run command by pressing Windows + R keys.
  • In the search field, type msc and then hit enter or press OK.
  • Locate the QuickBooksDBXX service as per your version:
    • QuickBooks 2019: QuickBooksDB29
    • QuickBooks 2018: QuickBooksDB28
    • QuickBooks 2017: QuickBooksDB27
  • From the Log On tab, set the service to This Account.

Note: You must not select Local System. Only few set-ups allow you to work on Local System.

  • Remove qbdataserviceuserXX:
    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Navigate to the User Accounts and then click on Remove user account.
    • Click on the qbdataserviceuserXX that matches your version and then click on Delete.
  • Open QuickBooks again.

Note: If hosting is already running then turn UAC off and then turn it on again.

  • Click on OK on the prompt that ask you to run Database Server Manager.
  • Run the Database Server Manager and start scanning the file. Doing this will recreate the qbdataserviceuser.
