Operating System Files Check

  1. From the Start menu, click on the Search box.
  2. Now, type SFC/SCANNOW in the search field to inspect your system files. If it finds any issue, you will have to perform the prompted steps.

Warning: This is a bit of a long process and it may take several hours to finish.

  1. From the Start menu, go to Computer.
  2. Right-click on the C:\ drive and go to Tools tab.
    Note: If you use Windows 7, you need to go to Properties and then Tools.
  3. Select the Check Now option from the Error-checking section. Note: From the Check Disk window, leave the two boxes unmarked.
