QuickBooks allows you to remove duplicate transactions from the bank feeds. Removing these downloaded transactions from Bank feeds basically depends on the mode or view that you are using. This article will give you a clear overview and procedure to remove duplicate transactions from QuickBooks.

Remove Duplicate Transactions From QuickBooks Desktop

Register Mode

The register mode shows your register on the top part of the screen and downloaded transactions at the bottom of your screen.

Note: If you think that the transaction shown by QuickBooks is correct and you want to remove the transactions that are not matching then you need to remove complete statement after matching the appropriate transactions.

  • From the main menu, go to Banking > Bank Feeds > Bank Feeds Center.
  • Choose the appropriate statement from Items Received From Financial Institution and then click on View.
  • Match the transactions and then click on Done.
  • On the Not Finished Matching screen, click on Now, you will be taken back to the Online Banking Center.
  • Choose the same statement from the Items Received From Financial Institution and then click on Delete.

Note: Removing these statements will restrict the irrelevant transactions from occurring when you download transactions next time. Not removing these statements will make the unmatched transactions appear on the statements.

Side-by-Side mode

Downloaded transactions can be viewed on the left side of the screen.

  • From the main menu, go to Banking > Bank Feeds > Bank Feeds Center.
  • Choose the appropriate account along with the transactions that want to delete from the Item Reviewed section
  • Click on Select Items to Delete and then choose the transaction(s) you want to remove.
  • Click on Delete Selected option and then click on Yes to the confirmation message.

Note: If you are done with matching up your statement then you need to click on Select all downloaded transactions older then and then provide a date to the last statement end date and then click on Delete Selected. If you could not remove all transactions then you need to switch register mode in order to remove the statement.

Follow the below mentioned steps in order to switch to Register mode:

  • From the Edit menu, go to Preferences and click on Checking from the left panel.
  • Navigate to the Company Preferences
  • Select Register Mode and then click on OK to save your changes.
