- Right click on the file and from the drop-down list, select Rename
- Give a new name to the file
- Open the company data file and create a QuickBooks backup
Note: You should not delete the .tlg extension file because it helps you in recovering the lost data.
Solution 3: Restore The Backup File
If you were not able to access the data file and the database manager service is not functioning then you can try to reboot your computer. Then restore the recent backup for the file. Restoring the backup file will help you in resolving the error code.
Make sure that before creating a backup, QuickBooks Database Manager is active. To do so, follow the below steps:
- Right click on the My Computer
- Click on the Manage option from the drop-down list
- Now from the Computer Management, go to Services and Applications
- Click on Services and all the services will get displayed in alphabetical order
- Right click on the QuickBooks DB service from the service list which is applicable for your QuickBooks version.

- QuickBooksDB23 – for QuickBooks 2013
- From the menu, go to the Properties
- Click on Start from the General tab
Now you can restore your backup in a new file.
