Resolving QuickBooks Error 6000 82
Solution 1: Remove spaces from the company name
- Log out from your QuickBooks account
- Go to the folder, where you have stored the company files
- Locate the company file and right click on it
- From the drop-down list, click on Rename
- Now, remove spaces from the name and hit enter
- Try to open or create a new company file.
Solution 2: Turn off hosting where QuickBooks is installed
For single user access:
- From the main menu, go to File > Utilities
- Tap on Stop Hosting Multiple User
- Click on Yes on the confirmation message
For multiple user access:
- Open QuickBooks software on every system where you are getting the error
- From the No Company Open window and then select file
- From the main menu, go to File > Utilities
- If you see Stop Hosting Multiple User Access then it means that the multiple user hosting is enabled
- Tap on Stop Hosting Multiple User Access on the system where this option is visible.
- Follow the prompted steps to turn off hosting
- Try to open the company file again
Solution 3: For Multiple User access, switch to Hosting local and Remote files mode
- Open QuickBooks and press F2 key to open the product information window
- From the Local Server Information window, set hosting to Local files only.
- Now, switch to Multiple User mode
- Now open QuickBooks company file on a network computer and open the product information window by pressing F2 key
- Make sure that the hosting is set to local files only.
