How To Resolve QuickBooks Display Issues?

Important: Your screen resolution may get affected if you modify the default settings of your Windows DPI.

Solution 1: Change QuickBooks DPI settings

  • From your desktop, right click on the QuickBooks icon
  • Select Properties from the drop-down list
  • From the Compatibility tab, click on Disable display scaling on high DPI settings
  • Click on Apply and then OK.
  • Try to open QuickBooks and check if the issue is resolved

OR

  • From your desktop, right click on the QuickBooks icon
  • Select Properties from the drop-down list
  • Go to the Compatibility tab
  • Select Change high DPI settings option
  • Mark the Override high DPI scaling behavior and then click on System (Enhanced)
  • Click on Apply and then OK.
  • Try to open QuickBooks and check if the issue is resolved

Solution 2: Change The Desktop View Preference

  • Open your company file.
  • From the main menu, go to Edit > Preferences > Desktop View > My Preferences.
  • Switch View from Multiple Windows to One Window.

Solution 3: Change Windows DPI settings

QuickBooks works smoothly with the default Windows DPI settings and you may face some issues if you make any changes in the default values. You may face some issues such as distortion, button missing, field missing, etc.

Windows 10

  • Open the Control Panel and go to Appearance and Personalization section
  • Click on Display
  • From the Change size of items field, click on Set a custom scaling level.
  • Click on 100% from the drop-down list and then click on OK.
  • You can also adjust settings by dragging the ruler left or right
  • Click on Apply and then restart your system to save changes.

Windows 8/8.1

  • Right-click anywhere on your Desktop and click on Screen Resolution from the drop-down list.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the Display settings and click on Make text and other items larger or smaller.
  • Unmark the Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays
  • Set the slider to Smaller – 100% to keep text and other items at normal size.
  • Save changes and restart your system to apply modifications properly.

Windows 7

  • Right-click anywhere on your Desktop and click on Screen Resolution from the drop-down list.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the Display settings and click on Make text and other items larger or smaller.
  • Set the slider to Smaller – 100% to keep text and other items at normal size.
  • Save changes and restart your system to apply modifications properly.

Solution 4: Edit The Screen Resolution Settings On Your Computer

Windows 10

  • Right-click anywhere on your Desktop and click on Display Settings.
  • Go to Display section and then click on Advanced display settings.
  • Click on Display. If there are more than one screens connected to your PC then you have to choose the display in which you want to make changes.
  • From the Resolution section, choose a screen resolution which should be 1024 x 768 or higher.
  • Click on
  • Select Keep Changes to apply changes and restart your system.

Note: You get 15 seconds to save the current changes if you don’t do it now, the Windows will automatically go back to the previous resolution settings.

*1920 x 1080 is highly recommended.

Windows 8/8.1/7

  • Right-tap on your Desktop and then click on Screen Resolution from drop-down list.
  • From the Resolution drop-down, resolution which should be 1024 x 768 or higher.
  • Click on OK to save changes.
