Steps to resolve issues when downloading or importing transactions
Step 1: Enable TLS 1.2 Security Protocol if available
- Run Internet Explorer 11 and make sure that you have installed the latest version of it.
- Tap on the gear icon
- Navigate to Internet Options > Advanced Tab and then scroll down to the Security
- Unmark the Use TLS 1.0 and mark the Use TLS 1.2
- Click on Apply and then OK
- Close all the running processes and restart your system
Step 2: Create a new test company file
This process helps determine if the issue is occurring in your bank or their servers.
- Open QuickBooks and go to File > New Company > Express Start
- Under the newly created test company, add the bank account which was experiencing issues and set up the account for Bank Feeds.
- To test the account, you need to download bank transactions

Step 3: Run account setup with the Ctrl key suppressed

- Create back up the QuickBooks company file.
- Look for the Inactive Accounts present in your QuickBooks file that still have the Lightning Bolt:
- Navigate to Company > Chart of Accounts.
- Now, mark the Include Inactive box then check for an inactive account that still has the lightning bolt.
- Right-click on the account and click on Edit Account.
- Navigate to the Bank Feed Settings tab and tap on the Deactivate All Online Services button.
- Click on Save & Close.
- Make sure that the Lightning Bolt is gone.
- Close the company file then open it again.
- Open the Bank Feeds setup and download all the transactions.
- Deactivate the account for online services.
- Navigate to Company > Chart of Accounts.
- Right-click on the account and click on Edit Account.
- Click on the Bank Feed Settings tab and tap the Deactivate All Online Services
- Click Save & Close.
- Close your company file and QuickBooks. Open the Company File again.
- Open the Bank Feeds setup again and press and hold the Ctrl key prior to clicking on any command. Go to set up account for Bank Feeds to know more about setting up the account.
- You must press and hold the CTRL key throughout this process unless you are inserting the following information:
- Go to Banking > Bank Feeds > Bank Feeds Center.
- Now, press and hold the CTRL key before clicking on Send/Receive until the PIN screen occurs
- Press the Ctrl key and click on OK after entering your PIN. Keep-on holding the Ctrl key until you receive a message that says transactions have been downloaded.
If you do NOT receive an error message: This means that you are having some internet issues with your system.
If you receive the same error message: This means that the issues cannot be resolved using this method. Please go to Step 4.

Step 4: Create a new account, then merge the accounts
Sometimes the account that you are setting up can get into some issues. This method will tell you if the error is occurring within the account or not.
All the pending transactions must be cleared before you go on to the steps.
- Navigate to Chart of Accounts and then right click on the account which is having issues
- Click on Edit Account
- Select the Account Name and then click on Copy.
- Enter an asterisk (*) at the end of the account name

- Click on Save & Close.
- Again go to the Chart of Accounts and create a new account.
- Copy and paste the Account name without the asterisk (*).
- Close and open the company file again.
- Go to Chart of Accounts, right-click the account that has the asterisk and then click on Edit Account.
- Exclude the asterisk and click on Save & Close.
- Click on Yes when get the warning message.
- Set up account for Bank Feeds.
- Download transactions to the new merged account.
